Profile requirements (The candidates must fulfill requirements 1 through 3, and at least 5 of the others listed):

  1. Master’s degree in computer science or engineering or similar
  2. High Academic performance (GPA average over 3.8/5.0)
  3. High proficiency in spoken English
  4. Experience with python and bash scripting
  5. Experience with Linux and shells
  6. Experience with software development and code design
  7. Experience with SQL databases (Oracle knowledge is a plus)
  8. Knowledge of batch systems and mass storage systems is a plus
  9. Knowledge of GRID infrastructure and GRID technologies is a plus

LOOKING FOR A FULL-TIME POST DOCTORAL

We are looking for a full-time post doctoral researcher to join the GTA (Grupo de Teleinformática e Automação) team at COPPE/UFRJ, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) is the largest federal university in Brazil and ranked top-5 in Latin America. The research topic is flexible but must be related to computer networking. Our current research includes cloud computing, Internet of Things, wireless networking, network function virtualization, and streaming computing for security.


To be successful the ideal candidate should hold a PhD in computer networking or in a related field. Speaking Portuguese is not a requirement. English and French are spoken in the lab. SUMMER SCHOOL ON BIG DATA 2014 and MINICOURSES: REGISTRATIONS OPEN

Registrations for the 2014 edition of the Summer School on Big Data, organized by Tércio Pacitti Institute (NCE/UFRJ) and the Research Center in Big Data of EMC, are now officialy open.

The  event will take place at the UFRJ campus (Fundão Island) from May 12 to  May 14. This year, in addition to lectures, three short courses of six hours duration will be offered (check the preliminary program on our  website).

El pentágono triplicará personal de seguridad cibernética

El pentágono tiene pensado triplicar el personal de seguridad cibernética en los próximos años, pues se pretende que en el 2016 se alcance 6.000 profesionales cibernéticos para proteger a la seguridad de los Estados Unidos de ataques cibernéticos; a finales de este año contarán con 1.800 profesionales que apoyan la seguridad cibernética del pentágono, de los cuales se ha fomentado a los ya pertenecientes al ejército a ser parte de esta nueva conformación, una "ciberfuerza moderna", además de contrataciones externas con el fin de sobrellevar los grandes retos de seguridad que afronta el ciberespacio.
